A friend told me of their motto when dealing with hateful people: "I'm too lazy to hate people I don't know."
I found that so profound and such an easy way to not engage with those who insist on spreading their poison.
My friend pondered some more about the position they wanted to take in life and concluded: "Let us help each other to live in peace."
It was so simple and yet so beautiful.
What if we invested more energy into this concept than into spreading gossip, into fighting with or hurting those we're supposed to love, into honking our horns angrily in traffic or into being petty?
What if we invested more energy into this concept of helping each other live in peace than into our obsessions whether that be perfectionism, worrying about everything, making more money so we can buy more stuff, cleaning and tidying our homes or sharing pictures of food or filtered selfies on social media?
It's so simple and yet, how many of us can honestly say we focus on helping each other live in peace over that of being self-centred?
