In an ever-accelerating world, it seems to me that you must have (running) feet to keep up instead of roots, as feet offer the trendy flexibility employers, friends, family and romantic partners seek.
However, roots allow us to stand firm(er), they allow us to develop and grow bigger and stronger.
We hear of people up-rooting - moving up or away - but what about this culture of un-rooting? Never settling down, always having to be flexible, making it sexy to strive for more instead of being satisfied with what is, craving, seeking, shifting, changing...
Maybe it's time to focus more on building a strong foundation? To stand tall and to stand for something and not everything? Maybe it's time to grow some roots of integrity and character?
